The aim of this study was to conduct the hematological examination of the crab eating fox (Cerdocyon thous) in the south of Santa Catarina. These animals are frequently the victims of poisoning and shootings, clashes with domesticated dogs, and are the mammals with the highest number of trampling in all of Brazil, reasons that lead to the appearance of these animals in rehabilitation centers and veterinary hospitals. All the samples analyzed in this research are from free - living animals, they were processed in the clinical pathology laboratory of Unisul Veterinary Hospital. The reference work has the purpose of obtaining information about the hematological values of the animals of this region, comparing with data from Cerdocyon thous from other regions and from captivity. We carried out surveys of 11 hematological exams in the period from 2013 to 2017, promoting a comparative study and descriptive. The parameters analyzed and compared in the hemogram were: erythrocyte (erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit VCM and CHCM), and leukogram (leukocytes, rodent and segmented neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes and monocytes). Among these parameters, 4 presented significant alterations; CHCM, leukocytes, eosinophils and monocytes. The CHCM and eosinophils presented statistically higher values and the leukocytes and monocytes presented values statistically lower than those of SANTOS (1999), which evaluated animals from free life and captivity in Paraná, and MATTOSO (2012), which evaluated captive animals in Sao Paulopt_BR
